Testing the new server continues apace. New version of vBulletin is GREAT. Won't be long now, folks. :)

PROGRESS :D

The new server is up and running with the latest version of vBulletin. I'm currently testing things and rebuilding the basic forum structure. Everything seems to be working so far (I'm loving the new attachments feature) and is definitely a nice upgrade for DOSF.

We'll be back soon. :)

NOTE: WE WERE NOT HACKED BECAUSE OF ME!

It appears that somebody has the wrong end of the stick (see comments in "I'm Back" below) and has come to the conclusion that the hack happened because hackers found a backdoor into the forum courtesy of my exposed iTunes account.

For the record, hackers hacked DOSF and THEN hacked my iTunes account using the information they found in the DOSF database. I have already explained this twice.

For those who are worried about the exposure of personal information - the only information they could have about you is the email address you used to sign up for DOSF (hopefully not your general purpose email address - shame on you if you signed up for an Internet messageboard about sexual deviancy using an email address that was in any way important to you) and MAYBE the password you used to log in to DOSF.

If you use that password anywhere else on the internet (and you SHOULDN'T be if you have half a brain in your head; if you use the same password everywhere, and your password is broken, whoever broke it now has access to every single resource you use online. Does anybody care to admit to being that stupid?) you should change it now. Standard process when a password is compromised - change it.

If it can happen to Sony, it can damn well happen to us.

Little update

Schoolmat has been incredibly busy with his day job, hopes to get the new server up and running some time in the coming week. Looking forward to seeing the "new" old DOSF back up pretty soon.

I'm back

Hello,

Back from my holidays. Haven't heard anything from Schoolmat as yet, so no news as regards when DOSF will be back up but I guess it will be soon.

Looks like Mr Hacker has been playing games with an old iTunes account I used to have. About four years ago I created an American account and purchased $10 of USA vouchers to enable me to buy an album that I couldn't get here in the UK. Presumably our favourite retards managed to harvest some passwords and tried mine on the iTunes account that was attached to my email address, as whilst I was on holiday "somebody" purchased a $2 iPhone app using the remaining credit and tried to change my password.

Suffice to say I have reset my password (to something different, this time folks - yeah, I was daft using the same password for DOSF as I did for my iTunes account; ain't you clever, boys!) and set a DOB and other stuff... but frankly I don't know if it was worth the bother - the account had no attached credit cards, a fake address in Georgia, and a stupid fake name.

If this is the "serious ass fucking" that was promised, I can only offer you my sincere condolences - life with a quarter-inch penis must be very stressful and obviously won't help you find a girlfriend...

And now, some honesty - without any hint of the malicious baiting you've seen before. Give this up; it really doesn't make you look big or anything - it is just annoying. Go and do something amazing with your lives. Trying to fuck a silly little website like ours is pointless because in the end we'll get our website back up and running and you still won't have achieved anything amazing. There are more lulz to be had out there in the real world than there are sitting in front of your computer. Have some real fun. And leave us alone - unless you have a foot fetish and you want to give me my $2 back.

Well, I'm off on my holidays and I'm going somewhere where there is no Internet connection - so I will bid you adieu until Monday 22nd August. Schoolmat has everything in hand as far as building the new server is going, and he'll get the old forum back up again in no time.

The Work Continues...

I've just had an email from Schoolmat, who is in the process of squashing these little turds once and for all. We have been using an outdated version of vBulletin - so far from being super-clever elite hackers, our "friends" have simply taken advantage of a decade-old vulnerability, childishly vandalised a few posts, and succeeded in absolutely nothing else but getting Schoolmat off his lazy butt to upgrade the forum software at last. ;) ;) ;) ;)

(Joke! The guy has worked hard for this forum for TEN YEARS and now is as good a time as any to propose Three Cheers For Schoolmat!)

Anyway, back to the point - frankly, my mother could have done what these tossers did - only she wouldn't do that because she's got a life and a healthy sense of morality!

So, shame on us for not fixing it sooner - but hey, the net result of the "major ass fucking" our Internet Tough Guy hackers have promised will actually be a nice new forum, a much overdue upgrade, and new security features to protect us in the future. vBulletin has moved on a long way in the last ten years and will be a major step forward to DOSF.

As a bi-curious male, the "threat" of an arse-fucking was actually quite an intriguing one; although ultimately it doesn't surprise me one little bit to discover that the big scary hacker cowards have, in fact, no balls, tiny penises, and even smaller brains. Still, I'm easy going - guys, if you ever grow some swingers, I'll take pity on you and take your one inch cocks whenever you're ready.

So, what now? Well, the priority right now is to get the new forum software installed. As I understand it, we will get the forum back up but old posts will be missing for the time being. Schoolmat has ten years of database files in varying states of decay and corruption to import into the new software and this may take a little longer. It's par for the course when you have a forum that's been around as long as ours, but it's worth doing regardless of what our little "friends" are up to - it's a good insurance policy for the future, and it'll make DOSF more stable and more fun.

So, to summarise, we'll be back sooner or later - Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger, as Daft Punk once said... So hang on in there and get ready for the rebirth of DOSF - coming soon. :)

Hackers are back

Well, you know what they're like. They think they're clever, but actually they're just stupid. Either way, our good friends The Hackers are back in town and causing us a minor inconvenience - so www.footsniffing.com is down for the time being while we work on fixing up the not-very-clever mess they made.

In the mean time, feel free to post here, make yourselves known, etc - let's not let the community fragment. We've stood up to bigger stuff than this before - so let's just get on with our lives and when these dumb children have finished playing at Lulz and have crawled back under the rock from whence they came, we can get back to our old home.

I'm in touch with Schoolmat and Vampirella by email but I don't think they know what's going on yet. When I saw what was happening to the forum this afternoon, I decided to get it down NOW. Keep checking here and at http://twitter.com/#!/dosf1for updates.
